Power of attorney for real estate transactions in Turkey…

If you are buying or selling a property in Turkey through a real estate agent or lawyer, you will typically need to issue a power of attorney through the Turkish embassy in Copenhagen. This can be difficult, especially if several people need to provide power of attorney and if you live far from Copenhagen.

RHA is one of the few real estate agents who can mediate transactions using a power of attorney drawn up by a Danish notary. A Danish notary can be found in the district court in your municipality.

A power of attorney gives another person the right to act on your behalf and is only valid for the specific actions mentioned in the power of attorney. The power of attorney can be revoked by issuing a new revocation power of attorney. We recommend that you have all contractual agreements with the buyer/seller and the attorney in place before authorizing someone else to act on your behalf. Also, make sure you have a written agreement about the services that person will perform for you.

Power of attorney by Danish notary
• We send a power of attorney drawn up in Danish.
• The power of attorney contains all information about the transaction, the identity of the attorney, etc.
• You book an appointment with the notary in your district court and bring the power of attorney and photo identification.
• You sign the power of attorney when you are standing in front of the notary, as the notary witnesses your signature.
• If there are name changes on previously issued deeds or other documents, you must obtain a name change certificate from borger.dk or the church office.
• Once you have received the power of attorney, it must be affixed with an apostille at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen, which confirms that the document has international validity.
• The power of attorney is sent by post to us in Turkey.

If you are unable to come to Copenhagen or send the power of attorney to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I can help with this process. Send the power of attorney and any other documents to our partner
